How to Prepare Your Dog for a Mobile Grooming Appointment

Mobile grooming is generally lower-stress than a salon visit since your dog never leaves home, but a bit of preparation still helps the appointment go smoothly.

Before the groomer arrives

  • Give your dog a short walk or bathroom break shortly before the appointment
  • Have a clear, accessible parking spot near your door for the van
  • Let your dog burn off a bit of extra energy beforehand if they tend to be wound up
  • Mention any recent injuries, sensitive areas, or health changes when you book

During the appointment

You don't need to stay right by the van the whole time — most dogs settle in faster without an owner hovering nearby. Staying close enough to be reachable is usually enough.

For anxious or first-time dogs

If your dog has never been groomed before or gets nervous around new experiences, say so when you book. A groomer can plan a shorter, calmer first visit — sometimes just a bath and brush-out — rather than jumping straight into a full haircut.
